Indra Gonzalez, Psy.D
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Gonzalez received her Master’s and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Hispanic Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her pre-doctoral practicum trainings and postdoctoral training, she provided psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, behavioral challenges, and neurodevelopmental differences. She completed her predoctoral internship at Momentous Institute in Dallas, Texas, specializing in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, family-based mental health services for youth and their families.
In 2016, Dr. Gonzalez developed an interest in supporting youth and adults experiencing complex trauma while working at a community crisis center assisting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Since then, she has continued working with individuals with trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic dissociation, developmental trauma, and dissociative disorders across the lifespan, with specialized training in EMDR, narrative exposure therapy, and child-centered play therapy. She has prioritized the importance of cultivating a genuine therapeutic relationship with each patient, where they can feel seen, safe, and empowered.
Dr. Gonzalez views the psychotherapy process as a shared journey between patient and therapist, and the pace of the therapeutic process is based on the individual’s nervous system. Within her work with patients, Dr. Gonzalez implements trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches that blend evidence-based practices with deep respect for the patient’s lived experience. As a bilingual, bicultural, and culturally humble clinician, Dr. Gonzalez understands that each patient’s experience is shaped not just by individual events, but also by culture, family, identity, and community. She aims to create a space where all parts of the person’s story are honored.
Whether she is supporting a child learning to name their feelings, a teen navigating identity and belonging, or an adult healing from generational wounds, her focus is always on helping a patient reconnect with their sense of safety, self-trust, and hope. Dr. Gonzalez utilizes a process-oriented and relational approach to therapy with core foundations in psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and a systems theoretical framework.
