Indra Gonzalez, Psy.D

Psychology Resident

Dr. Indra Gonzalez obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Hispanic Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her doctoral internship with Momentous Institute in Dallas, Texas, where she specialized in family-based therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and their family members. She also completed an early childhood rotation, conducted psycho-diagnostic evaluations with children ages three and older, and led socio-emotional groups.

Dr. Gonzalez has experience working with mental health concerns across the lifespan. She has worked in various settings, including a therapeutic day school, an outpatient hospital, a private practice, an adult residential facility, and various community mental health agencies. She also received extensive trauma-informed training when working with individuals who have been impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence. These experiences sparked her interest and passion for working with children and young adults affected by complex trauma and understanding trauma’s impact on an individual’s interpersonal neurobiology.

Dr. Gonzalez takes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy. She is passionate about cultivating a genuine therapeutic relationship with clients and their families, where they can feel seen, safe, and empowered. She understands that clients and their families have unique experiences, values, and identities that influence their perspectives. As a bilingual, multicultural, and culturally humble clinician, Dr. Gonzalez incorporates these individualities and considerations throughout the treatment process. She supports clients and their families in making sustainable changes that align with their values and goals. Dr. Gonzalez utilizes a process-oriented and relational approach to therapy with core foundations in psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and a systems theoretical framework.

She specializes in working with children five years and older, adolescents, young adults, and their families. She has experience working with diverse concerns, including depression, anxiety, behavioral and adjustment concerns, identity exploration, interpersonal skills, complex trauma (including race-based and intergenerational trauma), parent-child relationships, grief and loss, first-generation, cultural, and diversity-related issues.

 

La Dra. Indra Gonzalez obtuvo su Psy.D. y completo su doctorado en psicología clínica en la Universidad Adler en Chicago, Illinois.
