Dr. Wegener completed her Bachelor’s degree in psychological sciences and criminology, summa cum laude, at Arizona State University. She went on to earn her M.A. and Psy.D. in clinical psychology at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Dr. Wegener’s clinical experiences include conducting neuropsychological assessments for disability benefits, providing group and individual therapy within a residential treatment facility, providing behavioral health interventions within a primary care model, working within a family medicine residency to promote the integration of behavioral health into routine health visits, and providing rehabilitation psychology services to individuals with neurological concerns at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Dr. Wegener is passionate about promoting awareness of the mind-body connection, behavioral management of health conditions, integrating behavioral health into physical health care, and assisting others in adjusting to the changes associated with health concerns. While Dr. Wegener focuses on tailoring her interventions to each individual’s needs and goals, she primarily practices from a cognitive-behavioral framework. Dr. Wegener emphasizes the importance of considering cultural and diversity factors, understanding each individual’s unique lived experience, unconditional positive regard, and forming a strong therapeutic alliance when working with clients.
